Tips to Purchase Commercial Carpet Cleaners

Tips to Purchase Commercial Carpet CleanersThere are three types of carpet cleaners on the market: residential carpet cleaners, commercial carpet cleaners, and industrial carpet cleaners. The main difference between these systems is efficiency. Carpet extractors used for light applications do not require as much cleaning power and extraction efficiency as heavy-duty commercial and industrial carpet cleaners do.

When buying a carpet cleaner, be sure to check several specifications. These are output pressure, output temperature, and drying times. Generally, one can say that for industrial and commercial carpet cleaners all these specifications should be on the higher end. However, the ideal specs depend on the application at hand.

For example, Daimer® offers industrial and commercial carpet cleaners with pressure levels as high as 500 psi for the most demanding applications. Output temperatures range from non-heated to high steam temperature up to 210°F. Higher temperatures are more efficient in dissolving stains and residues in carpet fibers, enabling faster and more efficient extraction.

Drying times of commercial carpet cleaners are also of high importance. Conventional shampooers often require up to 24 hours of drying time. This limits productivity in any high traffic commercial setting, as customers and workers cannot use the carpet until it is dry. This simply is not an option for restaurants and retail stores, whose income is dependent on maintaining a steady flow of customers. This is why Daimer® has introduced low-flow technology with each of its XTreme Power® carpet extractors, boasting drying times as little as 1 hour.

Tank size is another important aspect of carpet extractors. Carpet cleaning machines used for commercial and industrial cleaning ideally should have two tanks — one for storing and water and solution (solution tank) and the other for storing the extracted dirt residue (recovery tank). The capacity of the solution tank can range up to 17 gallons, while the recovery tank size can vary up to 15 gallons.
